SunJam

Unity Through Music

A free, open-air acoustic jam session by Lake Zürich. Come as you are. Bring what you love. Everyone belongs.

Next SunJam

A circle by the lake, open to anyone who walks past.

SunJam is a free, open-air jam session at Höschgasse on Lake Zürich. For 14 years people have turned up with instruments, voices and picnic blankets to play live music together until the sun goes down.

There are no tickets and no stage, and nobody is sorted into performers and audience. Anyone is welcome, musicians and music lovers alike, as long as you respect the music, each other, and the environment that nourishes us.

Join in, speak to each other, turn off your phones and enjoy a day of live jamming. We strive to break down Swiss social barriers, one SunJam at a time.

Most jams also include a one-hour yoga session, a programme for kids, and food on donation.

A message from the founder

When I swapped Canada for Switzerland, I quickly noticed something was missing here in Zürich: a buzzing, inclusive and welcoming music scene. And I kept running into the famous cold Swiss social walls. When I asked the Swiss about it, they would shrug and say, “That’s just how it is here. You can’t change it!”

That moment was the birth of Zurich SunJam: a melting pot of talented musicians, artists and music lovers from all walks of life, coming together through rhythm and dance, spending a sunny Sunday together in unity.

At SunJam, music is the heartbeat, and egos get left at the door. So bring your good vibes and your love for music, and let’s make some magic together.

The Experience

Play Music

Bring an acoustic instrument, or bring your voice. Someone starts a song and the others find their way in. There is no setlist.

All musicians and music lovers are welcome. Be mindful of the session’s musical level, and jump in when it feels like a good fit for you.

Dance & Listen

No instrument? You are not the audience, because there isn’t one. Dance on the grass, hum along, or lie back on a blanket and let the afternoon drift by.

Connect & Belong

When we ask ourselves what community means, we think of acceptance, positive energy, human connection, respect for the environment and authentic friendships.

Share your picnic, meet your neighbours, bring the kids and the grandparents. However you arrive, you are part of it.
